Spain eager to expand bilateral ties

Ambassador of Spain to Pakistan, H.E. Carlos Morales along with the Honorary Consul General Lahore, Mr. Zaheer Salam visited the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade on March 24, 2016. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen bilateral trade between the two countries.
The bilateral trade between Pakistan and Spain is USD 1.1 billion making it a significant trade partner. Spain bought USD 800 million worth of textiles from Pakistan in the year 2015, making it the seventh largest buyer of Pakistani textiles in the world and third largest in the European Union.
The Ambassador stressed the need for bilateral trade between the countries to be expanded and diversified. The Ambassador also told PBIT that a Spanish Trade Delegation is being organized to visit Pakistan this year. The delegation will visit leading companies in Pakistan to explore opportunities for joint ventures and increase trade.
CEO PBIT, Ms. Amena Cheema assured the Ambassador that PBIT will fully facilitate the Spanish trade delegation.
Secretary Industries, Mr. Nabeel Javed and Secretary Cooperative, Mr. Babur Basheer Tarar were also present at the meeting.
