The 2nd Meeting of SEZA Punjab was held in PBIT on 8th December, 2018 chaired by Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal. The meeting was held to consider proposals for approval of Seven Industrial Parks/Projects as Special Economic Zones in Punjab. PBIT presented the proposals in front of the Board of SEZA Punjab, which were deliberated in detail and unanimously approved for further submission to Board of Approvals for final declaration.
PBIT played key role in drafting/evaluating the proposals of these Industrial Parks for declaration as SEZS.
The enterprises in these SEZS will be able to avail exemptions on the import of plant and machinery and exemption of income tax for a given time period.
The total investment size of the Projects approved is estimated to be around PKR 27 Billion (USD 194 Million), which will attract manufacturing concerns, leading to import substitution, creation of around 400,000 direct and indirect jobs.
