During a meeting with a high profile Chinese delegation from Oribiz International Business, Ms. Amena Cheema, CEO PBIT stated that “a fund could be created comprising private investors, of which the Punjab Government should be made a part. This will not only provide sovereign guarantee but also boost investor confidence.
She added that owing to Chief Minister Punjab’s unremitting focus on CPEC projects, the government was leaving no stone unturned to facilitate Chinese investors. The CEO assured the delegation that PBIT would provide complete facilitation to the Chinese investors, including advice on the feasibility of the specific projects.
She also proposed to organize a Punjab- China private investors’ conference in July this year. The CEO maintained that the conference would help identify the mutually advantageous sectors and areas of collaboration between investors and the government. It will also provide the opportunity to showcase potential projects to the Chinese business community.
Ms. Grace, CEO Oribiz International Business, while introducing her company said that “we are a platform for thousands of Chinese investors who want to invest in countries other than China”. It was the first ever visit of representatives of Oribiz International Business to Punjab which they carried out on the recommendation of Advisor to the Chinese President on CPEC.
The delegation was led by Mr. Umer Mujib Shami and Mr. Farhan Zainulabdin. Other members of the delegation included Ms. Nicole, International Business Director, Mr. William, Executive VP/COO.
Mr. Farhan Zainulabdin said that Punjab Saaf Pani Company is short of $2.5 billion funds for a project of $3 billion. In response, Ms. Amena Cheema said that there are a number of sick industrial units in Punjab which already have complete infrastructure and facilities and could therefore be taken over by Chinese investors.
In line with the Chief Minister Punjab’s larger vision and focus on China Pakistan Economic Corridor, PBIT is taking determined initiatives to facilitate the potential Chinese investors.
