Shehbaz Sharif has a reputation of being an upright and god-fearing administrator and the people of Punjab have elected him to the highest office of the province for three times so far because of his excellent managerial skills.
He has to his credit some of the revolutionary changes brought about in Punjab such as introduction of Pakistan’s first mass transit system “The Metro Bus” in Punjab, Computerization of Land Records, Punjab Education Foundation that helps private schools run in remote areas, Punjab Educational Endowment Fund that gives scholarships to the bright students, Danish Schools that allow the poorest students of the province to get the best quality education absolutely free of cost and also the provision of free laptops to the Merit Scholars helping the students in their research work.
Punjab Youth Festival, Punjab Youth Internship Program, Akhuwwat Micro-financing Scheme that gives small loans to youngsters without interest, are only a few of the projects that have been initiated by Mian Shahbaz Sharif in the province of Punjab.
His love for the people and the determination to work hard for the welfare of the masses has earned him unquestionable respect and love of the public. Recently he earned highest ratings among all the Chief Ministers by the leading poll service of the country named Gallup.
Mian Shehbaz Sharif was a public figure and internationally recognized businessman well before his entry in to politics in 1988 when he was first elected to the provincial assembly of Punjab. His speech at International Labour Conference in Geneva (1981) earned applause from all parts of the world. It was hailed by the democratic institutions, labour associations and activists of the entire world.
He is also the President of Punjab in his political party Pakistan Muslim League (N), which is headed by his brother Mian Nawaz Sharif (Prime Minister of Pakistan).
